Electoral Commission
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is the main agent of democracy in Nigeria. INEC is the permanent body created by the constitution to organise Federal and State elections in Nigeria.
INEC was established by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to among other things organize elections into the various political offices in the country.
Currently, there are 18 registered political parties.
