Minister of Budget and National Planning Udoma Udo Udoma
Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma was born on 26th February 1954. He is from Akwa Ibom State. A legal luminary, businessman and politician, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma attended Kings College Lagos. He proceeded to Oxford University, England, where he graduated with a Law Degree and was called to the Bar in 1978.
Senator Udoma Udo Udoma served as a distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for two terms between 1999 and 2007. He was Chief Whip of the senate from 2004 to 2007.
He worked as a lecturer at the University of Lagos before he went into business in 1980.
Minister of State for Budget and National Planning Zainab Ahmed
Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed was born 55 years ago in Kaduna State.
She obtained a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1981 and an MBA from theOgun State University, Ago Iwoye.
She started work in 1982 as an Accountant in Kaduna State Ministry of Finance in Kaduna State and moved to Nigerian Telecommunication Ltd (NITEL) in 1995 where she worked in various departments and rose to the rank of the Deputy General Manager (DGM).
In 2010, she was appointed to serve as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.
The National Planning Commission was originally established by Decree No 12 of 1992 and later amended by Act 71 of 1993. The Commission has the mandate to determine and advise the Government of the Federation on matters relating to National Development and overall management of the national economy. The detailed objectives, functions, powers and structure of the Commission are outlined under sections 2, 3 and 5 of the Establishment Act.
